Professional Graphite Pencils
Best brand of professional colored pencils?
Im a sketcher and I've been using Kimberly Graphite Shading pencils for a while now and I love them but I've always been afraid of coloring because coloring can ruin a picture. I dislike how crayons and colored pencils come out with stroke lines and rough scratches. I want something that will come out all together like your looking at a photograph and your able to blend with your fingers just like shading pencils only they're colors.
What would be the best brand of professional colored pencils for a realistic sketch of a person with skin tones and whole colors? They can easily blend to create mixtures and don't leave tacky lines.

The best brand is definitely Prismacolor Premier for colored pencils. They come individually or in sets that range from 24/48/72 and up in the number of colors. You can also buy a special blending pencil from Prismacolor that helps a lot with blending in the color at the edges of your drawings. Although these colored pencils are expensive, they are definitely worth the extra money. Derwent also makes good quality colored pencils, but you sound like you want the very best and that is Prismacolor. Check out their web site at www.prismacolor.com for tips on using colored pencils and the blending pencil. They also run a contest each year and have prizes for the top drawings submitted. The site shows a lot of artwork done by colored pencil artists so you can get some good ideas from looking at the pictures as well as the video demonstrations by their featured artists. Just another tip, you can often get the Prismacolor Premiers at a better price from an online vendor than in a store so be sure to check out the prices before you purchase any.
