What would be the best medium to colour this picture with?
Of course I'm wanting it to look good, but the problem isn't that I'm trying to give it a certain affect or anything. The picture is about 6'4" tall and about 4' across, so you can imagine that I have a LOT to color. I had thought of doing it in watercolors, but well, it's all together with tape, so the watercolors wouldn't stick on that. I thought of using my prismacolor markers because it would look really good, but they would dry out too quickly and I'd end up spending $50 on new ones. I thought of using acrylic paint, but I'd have to buy a lot. Sharpies would be the same scenario as the prismacolors. I thought of maybe using drawing chalk because I have a lot, it doesn't take a lot and it's fun to color with, but...agh, I don't know.
Suggestions please! Thanks so much
I'm suggesting oil colors, big brushes (you need large strokes to quickly cover the surface) and/without a diluting agent. Then, add details with small brushes. Oil colors are good because they allow the color layers to be more flexible. The tape is it paper tape or plastic tape? If plastic, do a test first. See if the result is translucent or opaque. They will surely stick (like they stick to glass) but be careful, the drying will take longer in a bad ventilated space. I'm thinking on an alternative, though...to use a thin layer of some non absorbent ground (based on...?), then work with markers or whatever you like...hmmm
