How do oil pastels work on canvas?
I want to do an oil pastel piece and am wondering if canvas would be fine to work on. I also am wanting to use watercolors with it(I've seen these two combined and it looks awesome because oil and water don't mix!!). So should I stick with normal paper or can I use the canvas?
Yes it does look awesome, but it wouldn't work on canvas. Canvas is meant for oils or acrylics. Use watercolor paper. I've never done it with oil pastels, but I have done it with oil based pismacolor pencils. Use the oil pastels first and when you are satisfied with the results, then use the watercolor. You are right the watercolor won't go through the oil
