How do you prevent the nibs on a Koh-I-Noor Rapidograph from creating Splotches?
I can think of two reason for "splotches." One is that the paper you are using has too much "tooth," that is too rough a texture. The nib may be getting caught by the fibers, and, when your hand pressure overcomes the catch, the sudden release of the nib causes ink to spatter. The solution is to find a smoother, perhaps coated paper to draw on.
Another reason may simply be due to techinique. The splotches you see may be due to too much ink being deposited on part of the line because you are leaving the pen in contact with one one spot of the paper for too long. You should be able to set the pen down and immediately begin the stroke without delay. This assures that the exact, consistant amount of ink is deposited from one end of the stroke to the other. Same thing applies at the end of the stroke. The pen should be lifted immediately, at the end of the line.
