Japanese brush pen?
I recently bought a Sailor Profit Brush pen, and I used to use a traditional asian bamboo brush to practice my caligraphy, that brush could take the traditional black asian caligraphy ink, and i was wondering if i could put that into the brush pen. Will it harm it?
Also what is the difference between Sumi-e ink, and asian carbon ink, because someone said if i use the Sumi-e ink, it will harm the pen, but if i use the asian carbon ink it wont.
Some inks are water-based carbon pigmented inks, and some (like real India Ink) are shellac-based. You don't want to use a shellac-based ink in anything that you can't completely clean, because shellac is pretty hard to remove when dry. It will definitely harden in the fibre brush on that pen.
First test your ink when dry and see how easily it cleans with plain water. If it leaves a shiny film that won't wash off, don't use it That could make the difference between ruining the brush pen and being able to use it for years.
