Best Art Supplies on a Budget?
I was wondering what is the best painting material (brushes, paints, canvasses) that I can buy but also that are affordable.
I bought a really bad set of brushes a couple of months ago and I didn’t really take care of them because I didn’t know how & also because they were cheap brushes to begin with (I think I got like 20 something brushes for 7 bucks).
So now I am ready to step it up a notch and am looking for some quality supplies to paint with. Any suggestion on economic brands or value packs that I can buy that still offer a decent amount of quality?
Haha trust me I know why they are called starving artists lolol.
Cheap Joe's Art Stuff and Daniel Smith Art Materials are two online art houses that I have ordered from. They both carry quality materials and have reasonable prices.
I have ordered brushes, watercolor paint, and watercolor paper from both of these.
I have also bought watercolor brushes from Hobby Lobby and Michael's. I have spent $32 on a single brush, but I have also found sable brushes at Michael's and Hobby Lobby on clearance for a few bucks.
Remember that the more expensive brushes are going to hold up better, won't shed, and give better results to your artwork.
Never allow your brushes to sit in water or cleaner for any length of time. If you take care of your brushes they will last years.
